In spring of 2012 Freddy and the Phantoms will release their second studio album entitled “Shadows Across the Country” and tour in Denmark and Germany.
Freddy and the Phantoms is Denmarks new answer to a genuine Country-rock’n'roll band, on the verge of broad public breaktrough. The band serves swinging, dirty and dark American-inspired country rock as we know it from the late 1960s super bands like The Band and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Freddy is flanked by the Phantoms fearlessly serving Lapsteel and Hammond organ while drum breaks, guitar solos and choirs compliment s Freddy’s dark charismatic vocals.
Since Freddy and the Phantoms debuted live in 2010 the band has established an impressive reputation and supported the legendary The Eagles in front of more than 14,000 peole , warmed up for the American rockgrass pioneers Hayseed Dixie and Danish rock names like Highway Child and Vampire Blow.
In 2010 Freddy And The Phantoms released their debut album “Leaving the Landscape” on Vinyl. The record gave the band rotation on Denmarks National Brodcasting Radio P4 with the song “When You Were Alone” and several critics praised the band for their distinct sixites sounds and humour. Recently the band was nominated for a Underground Music Award as best rock name in April 2011.
The 2012 lineup consists of Frederik Schnoor (vocal and guitar) , Rune Hansen (Drums and backing vocals), Mads Wilken (bass, backing vocalsl) Mikkel Nyboe (Lapsteel and backing vocals) and Jonas Søndberg (Hammond organ og backing vocals)
Quotes on our first Album ” Leaving the Landscape” :
“The Songwriter’s heart is buried further west, specifically in the U.S., where Sun Studios ‘special reverb and Johnny Cash locomotive drums have set lasting imprint in Freddy och Phanthoms’ musical universe. The debut LP features eight country rock’n'roll tracks, competent, composed and delivered. “
Gaffa.dk
“Frederik Schnoor and his phantoms, creates a festive, diverse and competent album.”
Diskant.dk
“A tightly structured and easily likeable display of love for sixties music, especially the American kind, and it stands to Freddy’s credit that he, as a denizen of the cold, dark north, has managed to interpret the genre more or less without inconsistency in the credibility department.”
